Several local residents have been interviewed about thier childhood in Troy and their memories of the railroad. The idea is to generate funding so we can provide a documentary of the railroad era and how important of a role the railroad played in Troy.
Commission Appoints New Chairwomen

Veronica (Roni) Hoffmann has been appointed as the new Chairwoman of the Troy Cheshire RR Depot Commission. Roni is a very dedicated individual and has already jumped in with both feet coordinating our first successful Autumn Fest that was co-sponsored with the Troy American Legion Post #56. I have driven through Troy several times over the years but I did not realize the old train station was still there,much less perfectly restored. What a fantastic effort.
How many towns have lost their depots? Virtually all of them, with so few exceptions.
Dr. Paul's Medical Bag Returns to Troy

When trains first roared down the tracks in the mid 1800’s, countless terrible accidents occurred. Over the years as we approached mid-1900’s, the railroads became more improved and safe. The number of accidents declined considerably, but in the event of an emergency, Troy was fortunate to have a physician on hand that lived only a stone throw from the depot.

A Lawrence Auction Treasure
By Valerie Britton - The Lawrence family was one of the earliest families to settle in Troy. Sadly, on January 4, 2009, news came that one of Troy’s most prominent citizens, Pia Lawrence, had passed away.
Old Home Days Hobo Breakfast
By Valerie Britton - The Troy Cheshire RR Depot Commission hosted a Hobo Breakfast at the depot during Old Home Day weekend on July 25, 2009. The menu consisted of hobo pita pockets filled with eggs, sausage, hash browns and cheese. Hobo Judy Hall made delicious donuts over an open fire and also brewed coffee over the hot flames.
The Stillman Taylor Diaries
By Valerie Britton - During September of 2008 while I was surfing ebay for Troy related antiques, I came across a captivating listing for a “Lot of 2 Diaries Troy NH – 1858 &1859 - entries mostly farm related” which also mentioned a receipt from the Cheshire Railroad. Since I’ve been involved in the restoration of the Troy Cheshire RR Depot I decided to bid on them.
A Covered Bridge In Troy?
By Valerie Britton - When I initially viewed the picture postcard on ebay I suspected the covered bridge itself was located in another town and only the sender was from Troy. Nonetheless, I couldn’t turn away from Flora’s neatly inscribed, Troy, N.H., on top of the photo and her title, “Old Red Bridge,” so I decided to take a chance and won.
Mystery of the Old Red Covered Railroad Bridge - Solved
By Valerie Britton - Troy's Old Red Covered Railroad Bridge is considered “lost” in the Covered Spans of Yesteryear database because it doesn’t presently exist, BUT it’s location is no longer a mystery. A “Railroad Bridge,” is one that the train either passes through or underneath.
