Troy Depot HO Scale
By Valerie Britton - A small piece of Troy’s railroad station lives on in the basement of Jim Dufour’s Lancaster home as part of his B&M Cheshire Branch in HO scale, circa 1947-51.
Jim has started on State Line, Fitzwilliam and Troy and is presently in the process of modeling the Ledges and Webb. The model of Troy is being scratch built to replicate the original and it’s surroundings, but a mainline trackage west of Troy needs to be added before it can be completed. In Jim’s photo (left to right) the large building next to the freight house is a model of the enclosed water tanks (two 17,000 gallon) that stood there until sometime in the 1940s.
Around 1948 Troy was removed as a water stop in the employee timetable so it is
assumed that the tanks were removed by the railroad around that time. Next to the tanks is the freight house, and on the right is the signal maintainer’s section house. Click here to watch the B & M W-X1 Apporaching Troy!
